Silica fume, also known as micro silica fume, scientific name silicon ash, is formed by collecting and processing the smoke and dust that escapes with the exhaust gas during the high-temperature melting of industrial silicon and ferrosilicon in industrial electric furnaces through special capture devices. In the escaping smoke and dust, the SiO2 content accounts for about 90% of the total smoke and dust, with a very small particle size and an average particle size of almost nanometer level, hence it is called silica fume.
There are many methods for producing silica fume from silicon blocks, and the results are good. The most commonly used methods are Raymond method, roller method, disc grinding method, and impact spinning method.
The main uses of silicon powder
Silicon powder has a wide range of uses and is often used in industries such as chemical engineering, electronics, and electrical appliances
1. Silicon powder can reduce the peak exothermic temperature during the curing reaction of epoxy resin, thereby eliminating the internal stress of the cured material and preventing its cracking
2. Silicon micro powder has strong corrosion resistance and is not easily reactive with other substances. Its particles can also evenly cover the surface of objects
3. Silicon powder can reduce and eliminate precipitation and layering phenomena, enhance the tensile and compressive strength of cured materials, and improve the wear resistance of objects
4. Silicon powder is also used as a filling material and volcanic ash material in concrete
5. Processed silica powder has good wetting and adsorption properties on various resins, making it easy to mix
6. Silicon micro powder, as a filler added to organic resins, can not only improve the various properties of cured products, but also reduce product costs
7. Silicon powder is also commonly used to make various electronic and electrical products
